You’ll notice a few changes this month
Lately, we’ve been in a rut and kind of tired with what we’ve been cooking. Do you get this way too? Well this month, we changed things up a little bit.
Instead of Pizza Night, we added an Appetizer Night where we are cooking up and serving a few different appetizers instead of a main entrée. The kids love these kind of nights, and honestly, so do I. The kids can help make many of the recipes and that takes the stress off of me.
Each week this Healthy Summer Meal Plan includes:
- Clean eating recipes with real food
- Breakfast for Dinner
- Seafood once a week
- Appetizer Night
- Salads and larger side dishes
- More grilled entrees and sides
- Focus on lower carbs and more protein and plant based foods
Another change by request
Recently, we asked Little Family Adventure readers what types of recipes they would like to see on future meal plans. Several people asked for more diabetic friendly recipes and meals.
Several years ago I was diagnosed with hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). My doctor advised me that it could be controlled with a diet rich in vegetables, lean protein, low sugar, and whole grains (high fiber and slow release carbohydrates). I’m not a health professional or dietician, but I do know that this is good advice for anyone watching their blood sugar levels. (Note: If you do have diabetes or other health concerns, please consult your doctor.)
So this month, we limited the carbs and added a few different recipes. One of our readers, Bonnie, shared a few of her recipes with us and we are sharing them with you this month. Her Loaded Sweet Potato and Blueberry Pie Overnight Oats are just 2 of the recipes that are sure to be a hit in your house. You’ll find the recipes listed with each weekly meal plan along with links to recipes for other meals in the plan.
